Battery Benjamin K. Roberts |
The battery had two six inch guns M1908M1 in Babette Carriages M1910. The battery had a unique two-level casemate with one gun mounted above the other. This battery was exposed to direct Japanese shelling in 1942 and subjected to direct fire by an American cruiser in 1945. As a result the lower gun was destroyed and casemate pierced in several places. Photo and Text Courtesy of Terrance McGovern. |
